Bujo Burger blazing a trail for sustainability
Burgers. Only Better.
So, this is not the first time we have written about Bujo Burger. We featured it in our Dublin Eco Eateries Guide last year and we have also featured it in our Leinster Great Irish Food Guide!

But, we met Michael Sheary long before this. He was one of the first guys in Dublin to start talking about fully recycling waste and I admit, it was the first time I had heard the term ‘compostable’ being used in this context. Because Bujo is not just about great burgers (which it has) or being a really cool and chilled out place to have lunch (which it is). This place is about making a difference.
The electricity is renewable, their packaging is compostable and they do not waste any food.
But, don’t just take our word for it. Bujo are blazing a trail in the sustainable and recycling awards circuit this year! The team are nominated for a Pakman award on Oct 24th, where they are a finalist in the Food Waste Management category. They go from there to the SRA Food Made Good 2019 Awards in November, where they are finalists in the Environment section: Reduce, Ruse, Recycle category.
What we have learned from discovering more about this very cool Burger Restaurant in Sandymount, is that there is alot more involved than one might think in ensuring all waste is fully recycled. We commend them for taking it so seriously.
We wish Michael and the Bujo team the very best of luck at the awards and we hope that other eateries will soon take some examples from them.
Good luck Bujo!
