Tadgh Byrne, our Food Respect Ambassador

#The Great Escape 2021. Wasted.ie have teamed up with Tadgh Byrne to front ‘Food Respect’ campaign

We are delighted to announce Tadgh Byrne as our Brand Ambassador of ‘Food Respect’ for The Great Escape campaign launched this month. Tadgh brings a wealth of knowledge to the campaign and will bring information, articles, interviews, and much more to a growing audience that wants to treat food in a respectful way as we head outdoors this summer.

He will teach us how to shop locally and sustainably, how we can grow (and even forage!) some of our own ingredients. He will show us about eating ethically and making smart food choices. And if we are lucky, we will also tell us about the best new organic world wines that we can get our hands on!

And he should know. Tadgh boasts twenty years of experience in all aspects of the hospitality industry, which he says is driven by his life-long interest in all things food and beverage.

He teaches classes across the country, including at Celebrity chef Catherine’s renowned Ballyknocken Cookery School, and this summer, he will be teaching classes with ‘Another Fine Mess’. Tadgh also speaks regularly on the subject of food sustainability, which he tells us is very close to his heart.

When I’m not behind the stove or my laptop, I network my way around the world, sampling the best of the local cuisine as I travel. Some of my favourites things: Asian street food, Melbourne coffee, Irish Teas, new world wines, hot sauces and the musings of AA Gill and Anthony Bourdain.

His many qualifications include an MA In Gastronomy and Food Studies, Hons BA in Culinary Arts, WSET Level 3 Award in Wines and Spirits, and level 9 ‘Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise’ in UCD.

Tadgh is heavily involved with Wicklow Naturally….

Wicklow Naturally is the food and drink brand championing Wicklow’s food and drink producers. It is formed by a collaboration of food and drink representatives, Wicklow County Council, Local Enterprise Office, County Wicklow Partnership and LEADER following the launch of the county’s food and drink strategy in 2019. It stands for sustainability, best practice, authenticity, the highest quality of food and drink products in County Wicklow.

We are delighted to have Tadgh involved with us on The Great Escape! He seems quite happy too 🙂

“I am delighted to be working with Wasted.ie who have done great things in recent years to promote a sustainable lifestyle and eco friendly products. This summer marks a new era Ireland, as we prepare to take full advantage of the country’s beautiful scenery, rich culture and heritage that we have been deprived of for the past year and a half!”
