PAX Wholefood and Eco Store build on success
Here at Wasted, we are always keen to hear from local retailers working to provide sustainable shopping alternatives for their communities.
So, when we were contacted recently from the lovely people in PAX Whole Foods and Eco Store in Westport, Co. Mayo, we were delighted!
Of course, we had known about these guys and the great job they have been doing for a while now, but when we looked a little further, we were astonished to see how far they have come since we first featured them on Wasted.ie about a year ago!
This place is truly a one stop shop for anyone interested in shopping sustainably. Beauty, food, baby goods, soaps, stationary, cleaning products and just about everything you could need for your minimal waste weekly shop.
A little bit about PAX Whole Foods & Eco Goods
Back in 2018, Kirstin and McKinley decided to do something about the lack of options for packaging-free organic food and personal care items. Today, they are one or Ireland’s leading zero waste shops, serving people in Mayo and all surrounding counties. Employees at PAX Tiffanie and Jan have been a huge part in helping PAX and encouraging the local (and on-line) community to make a commitment to a minimal waste lifestyle. And we love that!
The PAX team is made up of McKinley, Kirstin, Jan and Tiffanie and Janine has also joined the team to help out recently whilst Jan is on maternity leave!
Now stocking period pants
PAX have recently become the first Irish stockist of WUKA Wear period pants, which are washable underwear designed to be a complete tampon and pad replacement. WUKA Wear can be worn for up to 8 hours on light days, 4-6 hours on heavy days or all night. They are touted as being the world’s most comfortable, hygienic, luxurious and eco-friendly period underwear! Available from PAX in light, medium and heavy flow/absorbency, the ne addition has proved very popular locally and throughout the country.
Note: PAX also stock menstrual cups and reusable pads.
Almost everything from the shop can be ordered on-line and either collected at the shop, or delivered to you anywhere in the country (please check with the shop first).
We are thrilled to see a place like this growing so quickly and gaining such support and momentum in the community. This is a team that are committed to sustainable shopping and we could not be happier about the valuable service that they provide.
